Biography

The Weather Girls, Martha Wash and Izora Rhodes, started out in the gospel group NOW (News of the World) before becoming backup singers with Sylvester in the '70s. They formed the duo Two Tons of Fun, later changing their name to the Weather Girls and recording in the early '80s. Wash later went on to do session singing and was the uncredited lead vocalist on "You're My One and Only (True Love)" by Seduction, "Everybody Everybody" by Black Box, and "Gonna Make You Sweat (Everybody Dance Now)" by C&C Music Factory. Wash, who is overweight, was invariably replaced in the songs' videos by lip-syncing models, and was forced to resort to legal action to get a proper share of the royalties for her work. ~ Steve Huey, All Music Guide
