Alfie are now currently one of the most talked about bands in the UK but at a time when the country was awash with drab guitar bands, Twisted Nerve records sifted through all the wannabe fakers and signed the one that wasn't. For label heads Badly Drawn Boy and Andy Votel, there was something different about this bunch and they didn't waste any time in taking them to join the ranks of Twisted Nerve. As Votel pointed out 'They just stood out... the french horn, double bass, amazing songwriting and Lee's vocals just create something very special.'
The day after they signed to the label, they were whisked off by Badly Drawn Boy on tour as both his support and backing band. Taking in everywhere from Tokyo to Paris to Leicester, they quickly captured people's attention but it was lead singer, Lee Gorton, who was to make headlines.
