Though the Hollies were no longer hitmakers in America, this American release showed the group still had life left in them. Containing selections from three releases, there are several cuts that rank among their best. "Sandy (Fourth of July, Asbury Park)" is an early Bruce Springsteen cover that the Hollies make their own, harmonies and all. "48 Hour Parole" is one of the group's hardest rocking cuts, and "Love Is the Thing" is one of their prettiest, with the airy-sounding harmonies even more beautiful than normal. The songwriting is inconsistent and not all of the cuts work well, consistent with the Hollies' history. Although the public wasn't buying, the group was still making energetic and well-crafted pop music with the patented three-part harmonies still intact. ~ Michael Ofjord, All Music Guide
