Hot Chocolate

British soul band Hot Chocolate were known mainly by Americans for their huge 1975 hit "You Sexy Thing." But this 19-song anthology reveals that the band deserves more attention than they received. Lead singer Errol Brown was not only good with catchy dance tunes, but could deliver on romantic ballads, novelty tunes, inspirational material, or even message pieces such as "A Child's Prayer." The group was ahead of its time in other ways, having a racially mixed lineup in an era of increasing polarization, and also including reggae and rock elements in their production and sound. ~ Ron Wynn, All Music Guide
