Billy Joel

Well into the Storm Front tour, Billy Joel played two dates at Yankee Stadium on June 22 and 23, 1990. Immortalized here in an 85-concert film, the show represents a homecoming for the Bronx, New York, native, who may have put more of his older, more locally oriented songs ("Scenes From An Italian Restaurant," "New York State of Mind," "Miami 2017"--which, despite its title, concerns a New York apocalypse) into the set to please the hometown crowd. The result is a well-balanced 12-song set list, enthusiastically played by Joel's band. There are so many cameras they can't seem to stay out of each other's shots (there's even a helicopter hovering overhead), but the video conveys a good sense of the show's massive scale, and Joel puts on a stadium-sized show to fill the venue. ~ William Ruhlmann, All Music Guide
