Although the bootlegger who provided this two-LP set around 1979 used the name Trademark of Quality, Jumpin' in Germany, Burnin' in Hollywood isn't really a Trademark of Quality bootleg. By that time, the real Trademark of Quality label was out of business. Jumpin' in Germany, Burnin' in Hollywood is a reissue of two Rolling Stones bootlegs that the real Trademark had put out in the early '70s: Burning at the Hollywood Palladium (TMOQ 71057) and European Tour 1970 (TMOQ 71020). The first LP focuses on a 1970 show in Essen, Germany, while the second contains part of a June 9, 1972, appearance at the Hollywood Palladium. Both concerts find Mick Jagger and Keith Richards in fine form; in the early '70s, the Stones were very much in their prime. But unfortunately, neither LP would win any awards for perfect sound quality. The Essen, Germany, performances offer mediocre sound -- not great, not terrible, just OK -- and the sound is undeniably rough on the Hollywood Palladium performances. If Jumpin' in Germany, Burnin' in Hollywood offered better sound quality, it would merit a high rating because of the impressive nature of both shows. But because the sound quality is disappointing, this bootleg can only be recommended to completists. ~ Alex Henderson, All Music Guide
