    All Music Guide Review

Not exactly an all-encompassing or historically comprehensive look at the early-'80s new wave movement, Inside the Music: New Wave is nonetheless a pleasing collection that compensates for its shallow approach with a rather straightforward and accessible emphasis on the style instead. You get the obvious big hits like the Knack's "My Sharona" and Billy Idol's "Eyes Without a Face" in addition to two songs from arguably the most acknowledged new wave band, Blondie ("One Way or Another" and "Call Me"). There aren't any daring inclusions here, though a few of these songs may not necessarily strike you as being some of the era's bigger hits. As an added bonus, Inside the Music: New Wave is actually a DVD, so you can enjoy the visual aspect of these songs as well. Overall, a fun way for those already familiar with the new wave era to reminisce or for newcomers to familiarize themselves with the one-of-a-kind movement. ~ Jason Birchmeier, All Music Guide
