Hank Ballard

Though it bills itself The Very Best of Hank Ballard and the Midnighters, Collectables' compilation doesn't quite live up to that title, since it's missing several definitive singles, including "Sexy Ways," "Work With Me Annie," and "Annie Had a Baby." However, it does feature some of Ballard's more pop-oriented songs, such as "Teardrops on Your Letter," "Let's Go, Let's Go, Let's Go," "Finger Poppin' Time," and "The Twist." The inclusion of songs like "Work With Me Annie" would have made this album almost as good of a retrospective as Sexy Ways: The Best of Hank Ballard and the Midnighters; as it stands, it's just a decent collection of Ballard's mid-career work. ~ Heather Phares, All Music Guide
