Oh Boy Classics Presents: Merle Haggard Again

    All Music Guide Review

Merle Haggard's first appearance on John Prine's Oh Boy Records was a disappointing collection of contemporary country re-recordings of his biggest hits. The second collection, Oh Boy Classics Presents: Merle Haggard Again, is a surprising dip into the archives for vintage recordings of some of Haggard's best-known works. Highlights include "The Bottle Let Me Down," "Misery and Gin," "All My Friends Are Gonna Be Strangers," and "Someday We'll Look Back." Hopefully Oh Boy Records will be able to provide listeners with more reissues along these lines, and leave the re-recordings on the shelves. ~ Zac Johnson, All Music Guide
