BLUEGRASS GOES TO TOWN: POP SONGS BLUEGRASS / VAR

    All Music Guide Review

Bluegrass Goes to Town: Pop Songs Bluegrass Style is a 16- song collection of rock, R&B, country, and pop songs done bluegrass style by some of the biggest names in the field: Claire Lynch tackles Joe Cocker's "Hitchcock Highway," IIIrd Tyme Out covers the Platters' "Only You," and Tony Furtado and Alison Krauss do the Beatles' "I Will." This CD will appeal to new fans of bluegrass because of the familiarity of the songs that are covered and the high level of musicianship. Longtime bluegrass fans may find the selection of songs (from "Heartbreak Hotel" to "Bridge Over Troubled Water") a little novelty-ish, but will also be impressed by the musicianship. ~ Tim Sendra, All Music Guide
