    In 1969, Trojan Records began a series of releases in which they collected some of their most popular singles on the U.K. club scene. The series was called Tighten Up and this disc is a reissue of the first release in the set. In addition to the original 12 tracks, which feature such artists as Derrick Morgan and Byron Lee, 13 bonus tracks have been added, including songs by Alton Ellis, Tommy McCook, and John Holt. All the tracks have been digitally remastered from the original tapes and sound great. Trojan promises to release all of the original eight Tighten Up volumes, which is great news for fans of late-'60s funky reggae. ~ Tim Sendra, All Music Guide
