The vaults at Stax are wide open these days. While Fantasy is nowhere near as bad about scavenging and issuing half-hearted material, they sometimes release things that have limited value. There are some good songs on this Taylor session, but also some that could have easily remained where they were. The backing, production, and vocals are superior to several of the compositions and arrangements. ~ Ron Wynn, All Music Guide
