Like most of Johnnie Taylor's Malaco CDs, Crazy 'Bout You is an inviting soul date recalling his early- to mid-'70s triumphs for Stax. Pouring his heart into everything from the lustful "Dance Floor to the Back Door" to the amusing "She's No Lady" to the sweaty "Money's Running Funny," it's obvious that unlike other R&B veterans, he isn't about to alter his time-tested approach in order to appeal to the whims of trendy urban radio. At 50, Taylor comes across as a seasoned, assured storyteller who knows what his strong points are and is sure to zero in on them. ~ Alex Henderson, All Music Guide
