A master of catchy pop-reggae, Jimmy Cliff's best work was done at the close of the 1960s with legendary Jamaican producer Leslie Kong. Following Kong's death in 1971, Cliff seemed to falter, and while he never stopped making albums, the quality of his releases began to be a little hit-or-miss. This collection of singles released on the international market actually bypasses that problem by sticking to the bona fide hits, and it forms a nice overview of Cliff's career, from the classic Kong material ("Vietnam," "Many Rivers to Cross," "Wonderful World, Beautiful People," "The Harder They Come") to later gems, like Cliff's version of Johnny Nash's "I Can See Clearly Now." ~ Steve Leggett, All Music Guide
