Not only is Greatest Hits Live at the Bottom Line the first Lou Christie album recorded live in front of an audience, but it was also one of the final gigs recorded at the legendary New York club. On this October 21, 2003 gig, Christie sings all of his hits from the early- to mid- '60s including "The Gypsy Cried," "Two Faces Have I," "Beyond the Blue Horizon," "I'm Gonna Make You Mine," and "Lighting Strikes." His tasteful choice of cover material perfectly compliments the program, especially "Never My Love," "Mack the Knife," "It's Over," and the Tom Waits-penned "The Heart of Saturday Night." It's to Christie's credit that instead of forcing an evening of new material on a dedicated audience, he sang his hits, had a good time, and proved that he can still hit those high notes. This was also the first performance of Lou's holiday tune, "Christmas in New York," included here as a bonus track. ~ Al Campbell, All Music Guide
