Contrary to its credit, this EP was not the work of "Eric Burdon & the Animals" (i.e., the New Animals), but was among the final gasps of the original group in any recognizable form, made up of songs of Animalisms ("See See Rider," "Help Me Girl") intermingled with Burdon's solo "Mama Told Me Not to Come" and "That Ain't Where It's At" -- it's not very coherent, and the artwork only depicted Burdon, though the music still has a lot of power, especially the two Animalisms songs. The Burdon sides are too pop-oriented and obviously don't have the same backing musicians or production. ~ Bruce Eder, All Music Guide
