CARS: LIGHTNING MCQUEEN'S FAST TRACKS / VARIOUS

    All Music Guide Review

Cars: Lightning McQueen's Fast Tracks features a dozen singalong songs inspired by the Disney/Pixar film. The album is an even mix of covers of classic car tunes and road songs, and original songs written for the collection; while the original versions of "You Can't Catch Me," "On the Road Again," and "I've Been Everywhere" would tower over pleasant but relatively faceless tracks like "Hot Rod Hybrid" and "My Wonderful Car," the slick production values and slight sameness to the arrangements levels the playing field a bit. Highlights include "Black and White Thunderbird" and Gunnar Nelson's "Rocking Little Roadster." The album keeps the country and '50s rock sound of the pop songs used in Cars, so Cars: Lightning McQueen's Fast Tracks might be a nice road trip soundtrack for families who have been captivated by the movie. ~ Heather Phares, All Music Guide
