    All Music Guide Review

The soundtrack to director Greg Coolidge's slacker comedy Employee of the Month opens with the familiar beats of "Cobrastyle" from mercurial Swedish pop auteurs the Teddybears -- the track has already done time on Entourage, appeared on the soundtrack to After the Sunset, and graced numerous television commercials. The disco-fueled reggaeton rendering of Kid Rock's "Bawitdaba" capably sets the tone, promising a rowdy and ultimately disposable set of ironic classic rock (REO Speedwagon), retro-sounding indie pop (Hard-Fi), and a Cheap Trick cover from amorphous supergroup Camp Freddy (Dave Navarro, Scott Weiland, Billy Morrison, Donovan Leitch, etc.). Even John Swihart's score sounds like a broadcast from Studio 54, making this collection of dumb fun more of a "roll down the windows" joyride than a basement-bound guilty pleasure. ~ James Christopher Monger, All Music Guide
