Despite the presence of guitarist Mick Ronson, David Johansen's second solo album, In Style, wasn't a collection of blistering glam rock. Instead, Johansen began to expand the boundaries of his music, adding elements of disco, soul, and reggae. Occasionally, the soul inflections work, but the songs are by and large weaker than the ones on his first album, although any record with a song as beautiful as "Melody" is worthwhile.
