All Music Guide Review

Mariah Carey's Around the World delivers what the title promises: a collection of live performances and fan parties in Australia, Hawaii, Japan, and Manhattan. Carey hits, such as "Dreamlover," "Honey," "Fantasy," and "Butterfly," are mixed with footage of her in the different cities meeting with fans from around the world. The disc also features duets with Trey Lorenz ("I'll Be There"), Olivia Newton-John ("Hopelessly Devoted to You"), and Brian McKnight ("Whenever You Call") along with a conversation with classic R&B singer Brenda K. Starr. Dolby Digital Surround Sound, a discography, biography, and French, English, and Spanish subtitles make Around the World a worthwhile DVD on its own terms and as a companion piece to The #1s. ~ Heather Phares, All Music Guide
