Davy Graham

Davy Graham shared billing with British blues forefather Alexis Korner on this three-track 1962 EP, though Graham's folk-blues-jazz stylings are the more dominant presence. 3/4 A.D. is most notable for the first appearance on record of "Angi," actually a solo Graham guitar piece on this session. "Angi" would, of course, become a folk standard, though more famous in its covers by Bert Jansch and particularly Simon & Garfunkel (under the spelling "Anji"). Also on this EP are the Graham original "Davy's Train Blues" and the jazzier "3/4 A.D.," on which both Graham and Korner share the composer credits. These rare and good recordings, some of the first recorded evidence of the distinctive British folk-blues stylings that would flower in the hands of Graham, Jansch, John Renbourn, and others throughout the '60s, were reissued as bonus tracks on Graham's CD The Guitar Player...Plus, which also includes Graham's early-'60s LP The Guitar Player. ~ Richie Unterberger, All Music Guide
